I found a need to purchase this item because I was taking a trip to Europe and I realized the bundled wall charger for the DS Lite isn’t rated for 100-240V but only for 110V. By purchasing a USB charger, I would be able to charge my DS via my laptop. This has worked exactly as intended and I’m very happy with the purchase. The charging time seems similar whether I use USB or the AC plug.
Another situation in which this cable has come in handy is if I’m on the subway on the way to work (which is when I normally use my DS) and I get the dreaded red battery warning light. . . now I can charge my DS from my work computer during the day so it’s ready to go for my commute home!
For anyone who travels with their DS, I would recommend this product.

If you were to buy a DS charging cable in the store, you would have two options: AC adaptor or cigarette lighter adaptor. I don’t know why this isn’t an option as well. A USB cable is a much more convenient and compact way of charging your DS.
As far as the cable goes, it works great! Very easy to plug into your computer or usb power adapter and charge your DS. Much more convenient and compact than the AC charger. Great purchase if you don’t always have an outlet available. I personally use mine if I’m in the car; I just plug it into my usb car adaptor and I’m good to go.

This is a great little cable. As it is I pack all kinds of power supplies and chargers when I travel, for my cell phone, GPS unit, laptop, electric razor. I didn’t want one more power supply to pack, so since I always take my laptop with me when I travel this cable made perfect sense. I can use my laptop to power or charge the DS even when the laptop isn’t plugged in (it still has to be turned on though).
It’s an easy, convenient way to keep your DS powered up at home or on the road.

Good charger. This is the primary charger I use for my DS Lite now. I have it hooked up to a 13port usb hub I bought from newegg with an external power supply. charges in a few hours. Works as best as can be expected.
